Jack Katz on ethnographic methods in the sociology of emotion
Using ethnographic methods and video analysis, Jack Katz has studied a variety of emotions. He looks at the anger of traffic participants, the emotions of a family in a hall of mirrors, moments of shame – and crying.
Jack Katz is a Professor of Sociology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He is specialized, among others, on Social Psychology and Ethnographic Methods. His publications include How Emotions Work (1999), one of the most influential studies in the sociology of emotion.
