New release: Raoul Schrott's Love Poems

With an afterword by Oliver Lubrich: "Geometry of Emotions"

It is not a purely modern lyrical phenomenon that love poems allude to known tales of love. And Raoul Schrott's poems also draw on this great tradition. But they have additional dimensions: in his poems, the author’s other interests – including antiquity, travel and the sciences – resonate. Archaeology or botany, meteorology or art history – the horizon for this language of love is vast. It even encompasses the author’s most recent foray into the field of neuroscience. Together with the psychologist and reading researcher Arthur Jacobs (Freie Universität Berlin / Cluster Languages of Emotion) Schrott has just completed a book on cognitive poetics, to be published in the spring by the Hanser Verlag. Oliver Lubrich, professor of rhetoric at the Cluster Languages of Emotion and at the Peter Szondi Institute for Comparative Literature, provides an informed introduction to Raoul Schrott's love poetry – his "Geometry of feelings."
