The emotion-based spatial art is still outside the interest of international research, despite the fact that since 1780 these works have initiated a number of theoretical considerations, interdisciplinary discourses and projects.

The study describes for the first time the development of spacial art in Germany, France, Russia and Switzerland from 1900 to 1960. It mainly focusses on the theoretical and creative interpretations, international and national arguments or adaptations in political extremes, as in the Third Reich.

The research is based on written sources of architects, artists, art historians and philosophers. Ten emotion-based space art projects will be discussed.

The research project closes a desideratum to space artistic articulation, it makes an important contribution to the art historical modernism research and opens up new vistas for Central and Eastern European art relationship.
